Frankly, I can’t think of anything more hopeless than green hydrogen. Maybe flywheels for energy storage could be even worse. Where does such ignorance of basic physics come from? 🙄
Not sure how invested Millibrain is in Hydrogen compared to his obsession with renewables. Also Reeves and the Treasury should surely be questioning the folly of chucking anymore money at hydrogen as its pretty clear there is no step change in cost anywhere on the horizon.
Does it make more sense? Yes, the hydrogen plant could operate for longer and can use some of the heat from the nuclear plant to add energy to the system in a different process from that used to make hydrogen from surplus renewables.
Does it make enough sense to be viable? Probably not,
